Thom nodded. " Yes.. Let me check these books out, first. " Thom said, grabbing the stack of books that he had yet to read. He wandered over to the front desk. Ada would notice he left the useless anatomy textbook behind. Thom returned a moment later, and stashed the pile of books into an old-looking army surplus satchel. He would grab the anatomy textbook, before adding with a smile. "Sorry. Let me put this back, too." Thom said, before moving quickly, disappearing back into the care of magical creatures section of the library. Thom still had much to learn, and his magical inexperience was showing itself here. It was possible to return books with magic. The library had set up a sort of magical reference system, so that each book knew it's own place in the shelves. Thom, however, didn't know that, and assumed that the floating books which occasionally wafted through the air were the work of an older, more advanced student. He assumed that replicating the feat was beyond him, at present.
Consequently, Thom still demonstrated that he tended to think in muggle solutions to problems. That was changing slowly, but only as he learned useful charms. He would only think about using charms he knew as solutions, at this point.
Thom returned to Ada a moment later, still smiling happily. "Shall we go, now?" He asked.

Thom settled down quickly in his seat, as the Professor began to teach his class. He reached into a beaten, army surplus satchel that he carried with himself, to pull out the thick tome that the class required. He glanced with some fascination as the new desk seemed to grow out of the floor, replete with books and all. If he didn't have a theory before as to how the room was charmed, he was now regretting it.
Meanwhile, his face remained crimson as a tomato. Adorable? She had called him adorable? Thom simply didn't know what to make of that. Still, he smiled politely, at Evelyn. He didn't want her to think he didn't appreciate the compliment. Thom didn't talk though, since the professor had begun speaking. Thom instead started fishing through the pages of the book, looking for the correct page. He was able to keep from fumbling too much with the book, but Thom could have sworn his hands were getting red from blushing so hard.
He brushed off another crawly a moment later, more calmly, now that he knew they were there. He briefly pondered killing the thing, but figured that the professor might not appreciate it if the bugs that came with the room started getting squished. (He had missed when the other student had set them loose.)

The professor cleared his throat, in order to quiet down the chitter-chatter the students were having. After all, class was for learning. Idle chit-chat could be kept in the hallways and commons.
"Welcome to History of Magic. I am Professor Desmond." He calmly strode across the front of the classroom, looking at his students, remembering old faces, and getting used to new ones. The centuries old man smiled, a wide, aged smile. He might have looked as though he were in his fourties, or fifties, but his eyes would show he was far older. He didn't bother keeping his elementalism a secret, nor did he hide the fact that he was the Grandmaster.
"Today we are going do discuss the great wars of the Age of Merlin. Please open your History of Wizardry textbooks to page two hundred thirty six. Any of you who have not purchased the book as of yet, may use the stock ones in the corner." He indicated with his hand a corner of the room, where yet another table sprouted from the ground, books stacked upon it.

Well if you are looking for a woman, Lisa is still available. I wanted to have variety in the Elementals and Guardians, all orientations included. Of course, the person making the character can take the partnership however they want to. Whether the characters are just BFFs or lovers or what have you.
I suppose I could consider genderbending on certain unclaimed ones, but others are set in stone due to the fact that a guardian is already made for them.

"Thanks," Evelyn smiled. She was glad that Phoebe seemed to like her, and glad to know that she was there for her, if Evelyn ever needed to talk again. Evelyn figured that she might want to talk again, sometime in the future. It was nice to know that Phoebe was there. "I like talking to you too. If I'm ever feeling down, I'll definatly come find to you. Thanks." Phoebe's hug made Evelyn feel good. It was really nice to know that someone was there, someone who cared. Evelyn smiled up at Phoebe one last time. "I have to get going, but I hope I see you soon," Evelyn turned, hapilly continuing down the hall. "Bye!" she called out behind her, almost skipping as she went on to her next class. It was funny, she had just been so sad, and now she was so happy. It was funny how just one person could make all the difference.
Re: Trying To Do Research (Open) « Result #8 Today at 6:47am »
Evelyn followed Ada through the rows of books to a nearby hallway that contained lots of herbology books. Evelyn hoped that Ada was right about Hanabi no longer being upset about the comment, but Evelyn still wished she had never said it in the first place. She didn't know why she had to say it at all. But that was all over and done with now, she couldn't take it back. At least she had been able to apologize and avoid a fight. She thought, or at least she hoped, that Hanabi had forgiven her. She probably forgot all about it after her fight with Willow, a Gryffindor first year.
Evelyn found a row of herbology books, and nelt down, going through the titles. They seemed to have books about every kind of plant imaginable. It took Evelyn a few minutes to look through them, but she soon found a book that was all about shrivelfigs. She pulled it out, grinning at Ada. "This looks perfect!" she smiled, placing the book on the nearest table, and opening it up. There was a whole chapter about Abyssinian Shrivelfigs, and Evelyn moved the book over so that Ada could see too. She sat down in a chair, and motioned for Ada to sit next to her, so that they could look through the book together. When Evelyn began to read she saw that the book used a lot of big and unfamiliar words. She was glad that Ada was there; she hoped that the older girl could help her understand what the book was saying.
Evelyn read the first part of the chapter outloud to Ada: The Abyssinia Shrivelfig most be pruned every two weeks. Through this action, the person is giving the plant more chances to grow and become powerful. Cutting the sticks and leaves out of the way, bring the plant closer to the air, which it uses in its magic process. This plant needs generous amounts of water each day. It also needs a place where it can be exposed to both the outside air and sunlight. It is not recommended that you keep the plant outside of your greenhouse. It is better to just set it neary a draft section or near one of the glass panes that are broken. The Shrivelfig flourishes a great deal with a mixture of dragon dung and mooncalf compost. It is also recommended that a mixture of the fig that grows on the leaf and part of the leaf shoulbe grinded and spread on the soil.
Evelyn looked up at Ada, waiting to see how she would respond to the words in the book, because they didn't mean much to Evelyn, since she had very little understanding of magic, especially herbology.

Evelyn's smile brought an even brighter smile to her face and she Ruffled the girls hair playfuly before crouching down and give the girl a hug. With a friendly laugh she stood up and nodded " ill see you in whatever class we have thats all years together " she said " and anyone gives you trouble, find me got it? " she smirked, winking. She had been glad she had stopped into the third floor corridor today, she liked this first year, she really seemed to have a great personality. Watching the first year walk away she looked at Alastor. " See you around, soon i hope " she waves to him, turning around and heading off down the corridor.

Evelyn smiled, glad to know that the older girl was willing to help her out, if necessary. Crissy seemed to be a realy, truly nice person. Evelyn was really glad that she had met her, and Alastor too. She heard her words about not letting other push her around. Evelyn had often been called a pushover, and she knew that she had to find the courage and confidence to stand up for herself some of the time. But she was always worried about being nice to everyone all the time, and she seemed to end up letting them push her around.
Evelyn gave Crissy her biggest smile. She was really greatfull that she had been so nice. "Thank-you so much," Evelyn gushed. "I hope I'll see you again soon. I'm really, really glad I met you, and I'll try not to let others push me around. Thanks." Evelyn smiled once more at Crissy and then turned back to Alastor. "And thank-you too, for standing up to that other hufflepuff girl for me. Thank-you both," Evelyn smiled one last time. "I'll see you around." Evelyn looked at the two older kids, and was once again realized how lucky she was that the two nice, older kids had been nice enough to stop and help her out, or else she would probably still be back there, apologizing to a pretend prefect. She was glad that, even though some of the older students were mean, there were a lot of them who were very nice, like the two she had just met. Evelyn smiled once more, thanked them one last time, and then waved as she walked off down the hall, smiling.

"I actually don't think I was muggle-born, although I'm not completely sure. I think my father was a wizard, but I never knew him. My mother didn't even know him that well herself. She said he just showed up for a couple months, and then disapeared without a trace." Phoebe frowned at Evelyn's story. It was really too bad. Phoebe reached over and gave Evelyn a long hug while she finished. "I was an accident."
Phoebe let go. "I'm sorry," she said almost inaudibly.
"Thanks so much, you know, for talking to me when I was sad. It meant a lot," Evelyn said after a long moment.
"I like talking to you," Phoebe said, smiling back at Evelyn. "I wouldn't mind talking to you again, you know. If you ever need someone, just find me." She did like Evelyn. Frowning internally, she realized that a lot of the people she was liking recently were Slytherins. Why was that?

Martha looked at her younger sister as she locked eyes with her for the split second before Chanile had decided not the trust her, searching for a prank. Chanile knew her all to well, and quickly found the Creepy crawlier within the class. This made Martha smirk, and soon after, her sister came to sit beside her. She shot a knowing look her way and it just made Martha smirk wider. That was when Chanile decided to be the bookworm she is and start getting ready for the class. Martha rolled her eyes and then hers a commotion. THE CREEPY CRAWLERS !!! she had almost forgot about them for a brief few seconds and she turned her gaze to where the sound was coming from. A first year it seem, and from what she could see, the boy was a ravenclaw. He was on his feet, slapping away at something crawling up his pants. This almost made Martha lose it, it toke everything in her not to snicker, or laugh.

"I do have a rabbit," Phoebe said, flattered. She loved it when people asked about her pet. "His name is Beet, and he is a very adorable bunny because he's very fluffy. What's your kitty's name? It's too bad she isn't here, though. I couldn't stand to be away from Beet while I was here, really." Phoebe decided she liked Ada well enough. She wasn't bad for a Slytherin.
Then she noticed that Ada looked very uncomfortable. She had been shifting positions almost constantly. Phoebe suddenly felt the same way. It was a very painful rock to sit on. "Do you want to walk back up to the castle?" she asked. "It's not a really nice sitting rock, is it? You just walked on the rocks to get here? We could do that, unless you want to swim." Phoebe grinned. She doubted Ada wanted to.

Nathan walked down the crowed streets of hogsmade. He felt a new happiness within himself, he didnt know what to do or say. He had dressed in black jaded jeans that were pretty new, a black tee-shirt and a white sweater which he kept unzipped. Slowly he turned his brisk walk to a more calmer, relaxed one. There was a huge smile on his face and happiness shined brightly in his brown eyes. Thats when he stopped, in front of a quirky, inviting, shop that read Zonkos Joke Shop over the wooden door, beautifully carved with detail, tho not overly done. It was his, finally, after the wait to be approved it was finally his.
He pulled out the keys to the shop from his pocket, fingering the tiny silver key. He stepped close to the door and slide the key into the lock, twisting it before twisting the doorknob and entering the shop. He toke a long look around his shop and smiled. All the prank artifacts brought back so many good memories. Him and his two sisters constant pranking. The year working in a joke shop back in Egypt.
He laughed softly and started to work, cleaning it. He was running a little behind today since it was his first day and he wanted to clean and rearrange stuff to his liking. With a final wave of his wand the last artifacts slide onto the shelf he wanted them to be stocked on and flicked his wand towards to door, the sign flipping from closed to open and he made his way behind his desk, leaning against it. His arms were folded on the desk and his eyes watching the door, waiting for the first customer of the day to file in.

"It sounds like a plan," Thom said. Ada laughed along with him. It wasn't much of a plan, really, but laughter was always good. Though Thom's chuckling was a bit unusual. Ada shrugged it off. Everyone had the right to a funny laugh. Ada's was choppy and short; most of the time it sounded very out of place.
"You aren't a fan of the charms professor, either?" he said after he finished laughing, as he put away the book he had been reading. To tell the truth, Ada's dislike of the professor stemmed from her general dislike of the subject. Though the teacher did have some teaching flaws, Ada had never liked things she was frustrated with, and, thus, never liked Charms. She wasn't terrible, exactly, but she had to work to get decent grades, which was something she didn't have to do with several other subjects like Potions.
"Well," she said after a moment, "not really." It was to her credit that her face didn't reflect what she had been thinking. "So, shall we go see Professor Strieder, then?"

"It's all right," Ada reassured Evelyn. "It happens to everyone. Hanabi's probably perfectly fine about you now." Ada hoped that if she were in the same position as Evelyn had been, she would have done the same thing. She too hated offending people, though to a lesser extent than Evelyn. However, she was much worse at apologizing. Ada had a typical Slytherin ego, very healthy. She didn't like conceding fault.
"Anyway, you'll get the hang of the library soon enough, if you spend enough time in here," Ada said in a brighter voice. "It's confusing, but it sort of makes sense. You have to look up Herbology, definitely, because that area will have several assorted Herbology books. Including, hopefully, one that includes a shrivelfig entry." Ada began to walk towards the aisle she had indicated, and motioned for Evelyn to follow. It was nearby, so likely Evelyn would have found it soon enough even if Ada hadn't stepped in.

Oh yeah, actually I had a question about this too Sakkie!
I was considering making one of the Elemental Masters, however, I noticed that all of the open ones are male (I'm pretty sure anyway), and I can't play a male character to save my life. So I was wondering, if it was possible to change the gender of the elemental masters, I know you said they are pretty customizeable, but since they already have names and suggested playbys and stuff, I just wanted to make sure.

Crissy Smiled down and the first year, nodding. " its no problem at all, first years dont seem to be as bad as the older ones, its when the older slytherins get their claws into them that they turn into cruel kids " she said, laughing softly. She walked a few steps before the male hufflepuff joined them, she smiled at him " Thats good to hear, sorry for the small lecture, i tend to be a little protective ". She looked down at the first year again as she mentioned her name. " Evenly, pretty name, mines Christina, tho no one but my aunt calls me that, its always Crissy and i like it that way " she said, she groaned as the stairs changed again, it always made her feel slightly sick, thats when she heard Alastors comment. She laughed " Yes we all do need a map, the castle is large enough to make every the teachers who have been here for years lose their way i times i bet " she said, smiling more, she really enjoyed the company.
After the stairs connected to the landing of the fifth floor she looked at Alastor and Evenly. " Well it was fun, really, i miss have company at times " she looked down at Evenly, directing her next words directly to her " Evenly, don't let anyone get to you or push you around, im regretful to say that some gryffindors them selfs can be mean and cruel. If you need anything, just ask, okay? " she said, she gave her a friendly smile and then directed her gaze to Alastor again " i hope to see you around, Both of you " she stood there for a few seconds, waiting to see what Evenly's reaction would be to her words, and Alastors too of course.

Evelyn giggled, and then blushed. She wasn't laughing at Thom, and she certainly didn't want him to think that she was. His awkwardness was just so adorable. Evelyn liked that he wasn't just like everyone else. He seemed different. "Haha, I figured that much," Evelyn said, giggling more as he jumped up, frightened by an insect. "Sorry," Evelyn managed when her giggling died down. "Really, I'm sorry. I don't mean to laugh at you, not at all. I thought it was really adorable. In a good way." Evelyn sort of started to stammer. She didn't want to sound patronizing, and something about Thom's nervousness was making her nervouse herself. She blushed. Usually Evelyn wasn't at a loss for words, but today was a rare occasion.
"Sorry," she said again. "To be perfectly honest, I'm deathly afraid of all bugs," she said with a smile and a laugh. "I'm sure I would have freaked out a lot more than you did." She laughed and placed a hand on Thom's arm, to let him know that she really had ment no harm. She wanted to be friends, not to laugh at him. "Sorry," she repeated.

First Name: Analisa Last Name: Knowles Heritage: Half-Blood Place of Birth: United States -- See info in History Year: 2nd Year
Looks:
Eyes: Analisa has chocolate brown eyes that usually reflect a thoughtful (and in some cases, dazed) look. Her eyes are usually sparkling with happiness, but in rare cases, when she's about to duel or fight, her eyes are emotionless, yet threatening. Hair: Analisa has long black hair with redish-brown highlights. Her hair is straight and long (all the way to her waist), usually put into a french braid to keep the hair out of her eyes. Analisa does have bangs, but she usually sweeps them to the side with a muggle barette. General Appearance: Analisa is average height for a 12 year old - 5' 3" - but she's on the skinny side, weighing only 92 pounds. Analisa looks short, though, because of her slight slouch, but she can look like she towers when she wants to. Analisa has a couple of freckles trickled on her cheeks, but they're not noticeable because they are a light shade of brown, about the same shade of tan has her skin color. Analisa has a slightly button nose, too, and she sometimes looks like she's angry without meaning to because of her furrowed brows, which can scare some people. Yet, if you look into her eyes, you can tell that Analisa means no harm and is only thinking. Dressing Style: Analisa prefers the clothes that Hogwarts supplies. Because Analisa comes from a high-middle class family, she usually wears Abercrombie and Aeropostale T-Shirts and Jeans, with occasionally a hat in the muggle world. She's mostly found wearing the Hogwarts robes sporting her house's colors, though.

Personal History: Analisa was born in the United States of American in San Francisco, California. At the time, her babyhood was faced with arguments and confusion; her parents were experiencing troubles. Analisa's mother was a witch, but when she married Analisa's father, he didn't know anything about his wife's magic. On the other hand, when Analisa was born, she did odd things, like leviate her toys, scaring her father until Analisa's mother confessed. Now, Analisa's father didn't like this, marrying a witch. He thought he had married a professional business woman... only, what he didn't know was that his wife was a business woman in magic.
Eventually, when Analisa turned four, she and her mother moved to UK, where they had a nice home in a half-wizard half-muggle neighborhood. Analisa soon developed an understanding of magic when her mother began teaching her the basic concepts when she was six. Although Analisa went to a muggle school and made good grades, her mother mostly focused on Analisa's soon-to-be magical career. Her mother's main focus was to let Analisa be a top student in Hogwarts, the closest magical school in the area.
As Analisa grew, she made many muggle friends, but they sometimes found her annoying - her daydreams made it sort of hard to talk to her.

Thom looked at them, a little surprised to be addressed so directly. He stammered, nervously. "Erm... Magic, i suppose. " he said. His face flushed immediately. He figured he quickly had to backpedal, to keep from looking like a total moron. "um... a charm, of some kind?" The truth was, he had no greater of an idea then they did, and the nervousness of being in such an awkward social situation was gumming up his brain. On a normal day, he might have a theory.
Meanwhile, Thom's hopes of coming off as "cool" were fading fast. He was such rubbish with big groups of people! It was even worse when it was people he didn't know all that well - and he had never really spoken to Evelyn before. The worry and stress made him edgy.
It didn't help his cause when a moment later, he let out a yelp of surprise, as some kind of magically animated.. insect thing started climbing up his leg. He flew up from his seat, slapping away the creepy crawly thing with a mad bit of panic.
"Oh yeah. Real cool. You Poser." He thought. His face was, by this point, as crimson as dawn. He sat back down, miserably.

"Hi!" Evelyn's small voice was perky as she looked up at the gryffindor boy she didn't know. "I'm Evelyn, and as you can probably see, I'm very small." It was true, Evelyn was the smallest girl in her year, and proud of it. Evelyn had never really wished that she was taller, she was quite content as she was. "I can't reach the book on the top shelf. Could you maybe help me?" She smiled and tossed her long, dark hair behind her shoulder. The boy was tall enough that reaching the top shelf shouldn't be a problem, not that you really had to be all that tall to reach it. Evelyn was just unusually short.
Evelyn noticed that the boy seemed kind of upset. She couldn't really tell whether he was sad or mad. He seemed, frustrated. "Hey, are you allright?" Evelyn asked. She got up on to her tiptoes to try and look in his eyes. "Need any help?" Evelyn was always anxious to help another student, and she generally expected others to be willing to help her, as she was often in need of assitance, being so small, so young, and so new to hogwarts.

Evelyn gave the girl a huge smile, and moved to follow her. "Thank-you so much!" she exclaimed. Most of the older kids, gryffindors especially, didn't seem to want to have anything to do with her, just because she was a slytherin. Evelyn thought it was an unfair steryotype. "Sorry again," she said earnestly to the two hufflepuffs. She didn't think they really cared that she was down there that much, but she figured apologizing couldn't hurt anything. She smiled at them as she turned to follow Crissy, hoping they didn't dislike her because of what had just happened.
She began to follow Crissy up to the fifth floor. "I'm Evelyn, by the way," she told her. She tried to stand up straight, so that she wouldn't look quite as small as she actually was. Evelyn was the smallest first year, which also made her the smallest hogwarts student. "Thank-you so much for helping me. It was really kind of you," she told her, smiling. "I'm really glad that you did."

"I'm allright," Evelyn replied. "I'm doing better than I was. It took me a while to adjust to hogwarts, and magic and everything." Evelyn tried to think of what she could say that might make Aleydis feel a little better. "It's hard," Evelyn agreed, "missing your mom. "For me, it helps to write letters to her, even though I can't send them. And then I just try to take my mind off of it, by studying, or talking to my friends, or something. Are you going home for the holidays?" Evelyn asked. She hadn't actually made plans for the holidays yet herself, although she assumed that she would simply stay at school. It wasn't like she had anywhere else to go. Evelyn had sort of moved around from relative to relative after her mom died. She had lived with her grandmother, and then with her Aunt. After that she had gone to stay with her mother's rich uncle, and then back to her grandmother again. She never stayed anywhere for long. Now, she figured that hogwarts was her home.
Evelyn figured it must not be as hard for her, as it was for Aleydis. It wasn't like Evelyn was missing her mother by being here at hogwarts. She wouldn't be seeing her mother any more if she were at home. Evelyn knew that she couldn't ever get homesick, because she had no home to go back to. She sometimes missed her mother's old apartment, where she had lived before the accident, but she knew it wasn't there anymore. It wasn't like she could just go back to it and expect everything to be allright again. Besides, Evelyn was used to missing her mother. For Aleydis, this was all new. Evelyn put her arm around Aleydis, because she knew that when she missed her mother, that was what she wanted the most. Just to know that someone was there.

Evelyn looked around, mesmerized. "Yah," she said to Aleydis, and everyone else sitting around her. "This room is SO amazing." she hoped that proffesor had heard the compliment. He was probably pretty proud of what he had done with the place. "I have no idea how they make it look like this," she pondered for a moment. Then she turned to faces Thom, smiling. He seemed pretty smart, so she figured he might know."Do you know how they make it look like this?" she asked him, turning around so that she was facing both Thom and Aleydis at the same time, making sure they knew that they were both a part of the conversation. As she waited for a reply, Evelyn began to get her notebook and pens out of her bag, preparing to take notes.
